The Department of ECE, Established in the year 2009, enjoys a respectable stature in KIOT. The department has always been on a progressive path as it aims to produce globally competitive and socially sensitized engineering graduates to bring out quality in the frontier areas of ECE. The main vision of the department is to mold tomorrow’s technocrats by imbibing the essence of human values for innovation and creativity in science and technology.
The department envisages the wide spectrum of areas including, Electronics circuits, Signal processing, Communication Technology, Biomedical Instrumentation, VLSI and other applied areas focusing towards making brighter career path with following three academic programs.
B.E. – Electronics & Communication Engineering (4 years)
M.E. – VLSI Design (2 years)
Ph.D – Electronics & Communication Engineering (Full Time / Part Time)
The courses not only meet industry requirements but have the rigor to meet the research challenges in the fast changing communication technology. Apart from classroom teaching there are frequent lectures delivered by renowned speakers drawn from industry and R & D establishments. Supplementing the regular curriculum the students are encouraged to participate in the R & D by involving themselves in the sponsored projects executed by the faculty members of the Department.
The department has been strengthened by its reputed faculty members from recognized Universities and organizations. Research is the prime focus for the faculty and students who put in their efforts to produce tangible outcomes in the form of publications, patents and funded projects. International Universities and Industrial collaborations are also given prime importance and making road map for several initiatives. To enhance research, ECE department holds a Research Centre approved by Anna university, Chennai.
The department has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities to infuse practical knowledge to the students on par with academic excellence. The department actively involved in teaching and research in disparate subfields of Electronics, Telecommunication, Signal Processing and Embedded Systems. The department faculty members have good number of publications, sponsored R&D projects and Patents to their credits.
Students are given broad opportunities for relevant skill development apart from regular academics in order to make them competitive and industry ready. Student’s memberships in various professional bodies like ISTE and IEEE help to enhance their co-curricular activities.
The department also conducts workshops, symposia and faculty development programs regularly for improving the teaching and learning quality. Also the department is involved in the society development programs to make impact on its development and awareness.
